DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: Leave Kampala –Fort Portal
Depart for a 350km west of Kampala which will take us approximately 4.5 hours, a half day drive to Fort Portal via Mubende, passing through verdant countryside and traditional homesteads and farms. Fort Portal rests in the shadow of the fabulous "Mountains of the Moon”. We shall arrive in the afternoon have lunch in Fort Portal town before heading to hotel.

Day 2: Kibale National Park-Chimpanzee Trek
After Break fast, we shall move into the Forest, for primate viewing. This 760km² area of rainforest, interspersed with patches of grassland and swamp, supports a rich variety of fauna, 250 species of animal and over 300 birds. There are 13 different primates here, the highest total for any Ugandan National Park, including a large population of chimpanzees, some of which have been habituated. Of the birds, the Prigogine's ground thrush, the only bird that is endemic to Uganda, can be found. The activities will start at 8.00 am in the morning with a half day search for chimpanzees and other primates including phoestes, Red-Colobus, Blues, Red-tailed and grey cheeked Mangabey swinging through the dense forest and birds, butterflies and many small insects. The guide will provide detailed explanations on not only primates, but also on all the forest's fauna and flora, ensuring that your walk is both informative and enjoyable. This walk is excellent for viewing bird life and primates in close quarters. After lunch, a visit to Bigodi swamp eco tourism site is amazing, as we shall encounter rare and beautiful flora and fauna.

Day 3: Fort Portal – Lake Mburo
After breakfast depart for Lake Mburo National Park. This drive will take us to Agip Motel in Mbarara where we will stop for lunch. We will then continue to Lake Mburo. This Park is an extension of the Tanzanian plains with big herds of zebra, impala, eland and other ungulates. Bird viewing opportunities are excellent - for birders, this is one of the best places to find African fin foot, papyrus bush shrike. After checking in, go for a game drive in the rolling hills and open grasslands. The lovely landscape is a home to Impala, Waterbuck, Eland, Zebra, Buffalo, Klipspringers, Crested Crane, and the elusive Shoebill Stork.
Overnight at Luxury Mantana Tented camp (Classic) or Rwonyo Rest Camp (Budget).
Day 4: Nature walk and Leave for Kampala
After an early morning breakfast you will have a guided nature walk. A ranger guide takes you on foot to the bush. Lake Mburo is the only place in this part of Uganda where you can see zebra and Impala and it’s also the best place to see the African Eland, Africa’s largest antelope! You will arrive in Kampala in the late afternoon.
